It’s summer, and that means the words “Mom, I’m bored!” was heard in homes everywhere. Beating the summertime boredom Family Life Ministries and Health Ministry connected kids and parents to take an active role at home by attending in the Kitchen”.

 Each session was focused on a different aspect of nutrition, followed by a cooking demonstration with hands-on experiential learning time. Learning to make delicious, healthy foods that cost $10 or under and that can be made in 20 minutes or less!

 

All children were accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and receive a free gift!

 



Oatmeal Almond Smoothies

1. Blend 5-6 almonds until nicely ground

 2. Add 1 cup raw oatmeal and 2 tablespoon powdered soy milk add 1 cup water and blend until liquefied!

3. Add 1 banana and 5-6 strawberries or a handful of blueberries (Or add your favorite fruits but always consider texture and taste)!

4. Add 1 cup of crushed ice and blend until liquefied!


Personal Flying Saucers
 
1 Rice cake

1 Table spoon Almond butter

1/2 Green Apple (cut into rings)

3-5 Carob Chips
 

Spread butter evenly on rice cake then apply the apple rings and garnish with a few carob chip. Enjoy!

Make it your own by adding your favorite spread, fruit, and toppings!

“No Bake Pizza Party”


Fruit Pizza

 
Pre-bake pizza crust, unseasoned!

 
Tofutti cream cheese (one container per crust)

 
Honey or Agave Nectar

 
Raw fruit and Agave Nectar

 
Raw Fruit- strawberries, buy (extra for sauce), blueberries, grapes, peaches, etc.

 
Directions: Mix the cream cheese with a few strawberries and honey to taste, cream the mixture until soft and spreadable!

 
Spread on to the crust, top with fruit and enjoy!

 

 


Veggie Pizza

 
Pre-baked pizza crust

 
Tofutti cream cheese (one container per crust)

 
Seasoning for cream cheese- dill (fresh is better), garlic powder, salt, chives, (optional) whatever seasonings are preferred, but dill is the key.

 
Raw veggies-broccoli, cherry tomatoes, olives, whatever veggies are desired.

 
Directions: Mix the cream cheese with the seasonings to taste, cream the mixture until soft and spreadable!

 
Spread on to the crust, top with veggies and enjoy!
